I have spent two decades building web applications end to end: shaping the product, drawing the schema, writing the CSS, carrying the pager. I fell for Ruby on Rails the year it arrived and never really left, and the 37signals way of working came along with it.
I run projects on Shape Up, fixed time and variable scope, because that is how large things actually get finished. Along the way I founded Booster Stage, a web development agency, and Donor Tools, one of the first web-based donor management systems for nonprofits.
